Sprouting Grape Vine (85-17)
This picture of a sprouting grape vine was taken in by backyard in the Spring of 2007. I had just planted the vine that year and when I put it in, it was rather pathetic looking. But as the vine began to sprout it revealed a texture and color combination in the buds that caught my attention. I was captivated by the amazing detail in this tiny plant that was little more that a twig. Unfortunately, the natural background I had when shooting this picture was far from ideal: it was a giant miss-match of incompatible colors and a large gap in contrast, which made for a very busy and distracting background. As is often the case, I was forced to improvise with items close-at-hand. The beautiful deep blue background you see in the picture now is actually a navy blue diaper-changing pad from our kid's diaper bag that happened to be in our garage at the time. I was quite satisfied with the result, as the cool blue brings out the warm orange and pink tones in the buds. God's provision is both amusing and amazing. |
