Doubling Gap Early Morning Farmscape (51-23)
The chapter of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship that I was involved with in college took a weeklong trip at the end of every school year to a Christian retreat camp in Doubling Gap, Pennsylvania. The camp was nestled amongst the Appalachian Mountains in south-central PA and although the "mountains" seemed more to me like very large hills, the camp was close to a section of the Appalachian Trail. One morning several of my friends and I woke up very early and made the long trek up to the Appalachian Trail and found this overlook of the rolling farmland. The sun had not broken the horizon yet and the fog was lying thick over the hills when I took this picture, creating a very eerie appearance. The quiet beauty of such moments rejuvenates my soul and reminds me that I need to take more time to be still with God. |
