Portrait of a Horse (36-23)
In January of 2001 I was working a job doing construction while I was on winter break from college. The day I took this picture I had to leave work early due to the inclement weather. Most of the other guys working stayed because they had trucks that could handle the snow, but I was driving a thirteen-year-old little Mazda that I barely made it home in, even having left work early. By the time I got home I knew I wanted to go take pictures, but I also knew that I could not safely drive anywhere. I suited up, packed up my gear, and made the long hike from my house to this horse farm where I was able to take this picture. I don't know exactly how far I hiked that day, but I do know that it was one of the most difficult trips I have made. It is also one of the trips I remember most fondly. When I finally got home I warmed up to a nice cup of hot chocolate - it was the perfect winter's day. |
